Happy Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is upon us and it is a time for rest, renewal, and space to vision our dreams. During this time of year, as mother nature as our guide, one can experience the death of vegetation but also witness glimpses of new life, rebirth, and growth. With observation, we see the flowers that are no longer blooming but rooted in the earth ready to be born again, the dry earth waiting to be saturated by rain or snow, and the long dark nights. These same cycles exist within all of us and this time of year is designed for us to embrace the mystery of our own existence. This poem reminds me to do just that.

Goddess of the sacred pause
please grant me the courage
to lay aside swiftness
and take up slowness,
to embrace limitations as learning,
silence as stabilizing,
waiting as worthy,
and sitting as divine.
Goddess of the sacred pause
help me to know stillness as strength,
patience as powerful,
and healing time as a holy necessity.

Wishing you a blessed solstice and a wonderful holiday season.
